Carbon Black

Carbon black (CAS 1333-86-4) is an engineered form of nearly pure elemental carbon produced by the incomplete combustion or thermal decomposition of hydrocarbon feedstocks. It consists of fused primary particles forming aggregates, and its performance is governed by particle size, structure and surface chemistry. Rubber grades in the ASTM N100 to N700 series are selected by iodine adsorption number and DBP absorption to balance reinforcement, hysteresis and extrusion behaviour in tyre compounds. Pigment grades serve coatings, plastics and inks for jetness and UV protection, while conductive grades enable antistatic compounds, cable shielding and lithium-ion battery electrodes.
